A Message from DCRA Green Building Division

Dear Stakeholders,

Based on feedback from the building industry and Third Plan Review and Inspection Agencies, DCRA is integrating plan review and inspections of the DC Energy Conservation Code and DC Green Construction Code into the Third Party Program. The goal is to streamline the review and inspections process for any project team that decides to use a Third Party Agency, and help ensure a smoother, timelier and more predictable process.

As of March 15, project teams and owners have the option of using approved Agencies for energy and green plan review and inspections. Beginning June 19, all new Notice of Intent (NOI) to use a Third Party Plan Review Agency will be required to either (1) select an approved Third Party Agency that has an approved Professional-in-Charge and Plan Reviewer for energy and/or green review (as applicable), or (2) in the case the primary Agency is not approved for green and/or energy review, complete a separate NOI indicating another Third Party Agency that is approved. You can find a list of approved Agencies and further instructions on the process here. To determine applicability of green review and inspections, please see instructions on theĀ Green Determination Request here. The Green Determination Request must be completed by the NOI submittal, however, we strongly suggest it completed before submitting the NOI.

Best,
